For ballet dancers...placement?

okay, so when you are in a develope in a la seconde, that%26#039;s above ninety degrees...should the top of your foot be facing behind you, or to the ceiling? i know that to the back is what your working for, but should you really lower your leg until the top of your foot faces behind you? or not?

the top of your foot should be facing the back so that the ankle and insideof your foot is facing the outside....turn out, in other words. i think it%26#039;s better to have the turn out and lower your leg then to have a higher leg and not turn out becasue if you have turn out lower, it will be easier for you to have turn out higher in the end.

the top of your foot should face behind you because if it faces the ceiling you are not turning out. you shouldn%26#039;t lower you leg but focus on turning out from your hips.
Reply:It depends on if your hips are straight and your leg is high. If your hips arent straight you should lower your leg. But if your hips are straight and you are really working your turn out to its fullest then that is ok. Your turnout will improve. But you have to work it in every position not just a develope!
Reply:its better to lower the leg and have the correct turnout and technique than the other way around. once you have it correctky placed then you can work on getting it higher! they always say a low leg with correct positioning looks so much better than a high leg turned in. happy dancing! =)
