I%26#039;m not sure about websites--try a web search. Or maybe do you have any friends who are good dancers that would be willing to hang out with you and show you some moves? There might be instructional DVDs you can rent... those will cost money, but it would only be like $5... a lot less than dance classes! Good luck!

ok, first of all, ALWAYS warm up before you stretch. If you don%26#039;t you%26#039;ll just be trying to stretch cold, stiff muscles. Do at least 20 jumping-jacks, then run in place for about 3 minutes(dont keep looking at the clock, set an alarm). To make it fun alternate (do 8 jumping-jacks, then run for a minute, do 8 more jumping-jacks, then run for another minute, and so on). the best way to know if you are warmed up enough is to see if your heart is beating fast. if it is, then start stretching. touch your toes without bending your knees, hold on to your toe and bend the opposite leg, do the butterfly and push down on your knees, and there are a lot more that I don%26#039;t know how to explain. Then when you are down stretching, slowly open up your splits, and stay for about a minute. then, switch legs. hope my advice helps!

While your doing that squat down a little and lift up your left leg then your right leg and stay on your toes ( do that over and over) you gotta twist with it! I did, I didnt like the fanny pack people. they were good and all, but not as good as the other group

I have to say that Fanny Pak deserved to stay. In addition to them being original and different, their choreography makes them very memorable. To be honest their quirky dance moves may just be a glimpse of their dynamic abilities to overcome different challenges in the upcoming weeks. In short, creativity is obviously not an issue for them and they seem to exceed their limits. Matt Cady, who is also part of this group, is an excellent choreographer and I%26#039;m willing to bet that he has a few tricks up his sleeves.





Team Millenia was truly awesome as well, but choreography-wise could not meet the energy level, or originality level that Fanny Pak was dishing out. I%26#039;m sure the judges have seen their style over and over again, and could have possibly made the choice based on the fact that they didnt stand out in what they did. They both deserve to go, I was rooting for them myself, but honestly Fanny Pak just delivered a better, and very unexpected performance. Just give them a chance. They may blow your mind.

2. sleep and food are important too ( though it depends on what kinds of foods)


3. try yoga- it helps to ease the mind- creating focus on the jumps, and the stretches it emphasizes may help


4. study successful people in the past as to how they surpass the height, perhaps you can discover certain methods of movements that will help you accomplish your goal

The only Way to get your Leaps Higher is to get your muscles built up to get that power to get up high.

Reply:Try grand allegro with 3 pound weights! You also have to use your plie or in other words go through it. Do not stop in it! Jumping also has to do with how long your tendons are, if you have short tendons you will not be able to jump as high as a person with long tendons but you can still create the illusion of jumping as high by using your plie!


If you use weights you should use them at the bar then for center take them off until grand allegro.

Reply:the deeper your plie, the higher your jump. make sure that your heels always start firmly into the floor and return to that deep plie else your teacher might shoot you! pet hate with my teacher. i found with jumps like Bris茅, Assembl茅 and Frapp茅 get their extra energy through the extension that goes through the floor on the way out and grand allegro, battery and other jumping steps all really need deep plies.practice at the barre and your get better. the more you focus the better they wil become. happy dancing! =)

okay, so when you are in a develope in a la seconde, that%26#039;s above ninety degrees...should the top of your foot be facing behind you, or to the ceiling? i know that to the back is what your working for, but should you really lower your leg until the top of your foot faces behind you? or not?

the top of your foot should be facing the back so that the ankle and insideof your foot is facing the outside....turn out, in other words. i think it%26#039;s better to have the turn out and lower your leg then to have a higher leg and not turn out becasue if you have turn out lower, it will be easier for you to have turn out higher in the end.

Reply:It depends on if your hips are straight and your leg is high. If your hips arent straight you should lower your leg. But if your hips are straight and you are really working your turn out to its fullest then that is ok. Your turnout will improve. But you have to work it in every position not just a develope!

no you are not too old to start dancing! Many girls start dancing at 14. I started when i was 3 and i hate to say it, but there are girls who started a few years after me and are better! if you decide to start dancing dont give up! its really fun! i used 2 hate ballet but now i love it because we are dancing 2 new songs not old boring 1s.

Lyrical dance is a modern dance form which fuses modern dance, jazz, and ballet. Lyrical dance is often referred to as contemporary dance. Also Lyrical Is More Of Jazz and Ballet together and is flowy and usally goes with the lyrics =)





Comtemporary uses and feels more of a very emotional side and is often very earthy if you know what i mean.

Reply:you should definitely do it. it%26#039;s never too late so don%26#039;t worry about it. lyrical and contemporary are very similar except in lyrical, inspiration for the choreography comes from the lyrics of the song. i%26#039;m pretty sure that%26#039;s the only difference.

Your question only pertains to learning how to dance and your fitness level so that is as much as I will answer. Please though, whatever your interests and talents may be: secure a good education for yourself (You can pay for it by dancing, but the job DOES have an expiration date and any money you earn stripping will eventually get spent. Find other ways to support yourself.)

School dance problem.?

i%26#039;m in 8th grade right now, about to go into 9th grade and yesterday we had our graduation dance.


well there was this guy there that my friend(marco) were good friends %26amp; theres also my friend(julie) who%26#039;s boyfriend is my good friend. well while julie wasnt paying attention, marco started grinding on me and it wasnt by accedint eaither he came up to me grabbed my hips and stuck his %26quot;area%26quot; in my butt. %26amp; then we danced for about 30 seconds until the chaperone split us apart.


well then again a little while later while the chaperones and once again julie wasnt looking he came up held my hips again %26amp; we grinded again. and this time it was for like a minute and a half- two minutes and everyone was taking videos of it, and pictures of it, and watching. but again i did not resist because i actaully liked it but now i know the videos and pictures are gonna be all over myspace and youtube. %26amp; now since the videos and pics are all over julies gonna see and she gets mad easily.

I danced ballet for a while and even played the role of a mouse in the NUtcracker with the Atlanta Ballet Company. But when i was 12 i got a really tough ( kinda mean) teacher and my self esttem dropped dramatically. i stopped right before i was supposed to do pre pointe. I later moved to NYC at 14 and now at 16 i dance jazz, jazz/funk, and hip hop. but i want to do ballet especially to finally get on pointe. I also want to dance ballet in college as well as jazz and hip hop biut i feel like what im asking for is a fantasy. i greatly appreciate ur answres

i don%26#039;t even know if i sound like a n00b by saying contemporary dancing. i%26#039;m only saying that because i%26#039;ve seen so you think you can dance and i think the contemporary dances are ahmazing and would love to be able to do stuff like that.

Okay, there%26#039;s a difference between wanting to be able to do something and having a passion for it. I know plenty of people who dance just for fun-and that%26#039;s fine! But contemporary dance (at least the kind like on SYTYCD) takes a lot of feeling. Anyway, if you know of classes for lyrical or contemporary, you may be able to take a trial class to see if you like it or take it just for a summer. There are no %26quot;contemporary%26quot; classes near me, but there are modern dance classes. It really depends on where you live if you the opportunity to take a lyrical or contemporary class. I would recommend taking ballet, or you may be completely lost during the class.

Jazz dancing?

I%26#039;m going to the Big Bad Voodoo Daddy concert tonight which is a jazz band and i%26#039;m going with 3 other people on a double date.





we all love the music so im sure were going to want to dance, but i%26#039;ve never jazz danced before.





what are some easy things to do to change your dancing style to jazz when you have never done it before? i dont need anything fancy, just jazzy

so throughout the whole year we have dances and all us 7th graders looked at the 8th graders like: wow slutty much? when they grinded. well me and some of my friends (like 5) were all at a house party yesterday with the %26quot;cooler people%26quot; of our grade. it was so dead and then we finally started dancing. me and my best friend started like %26quot;front grinding%26quot; with each other and the guys were like HOLY SHHHH!!!! and then me and my other friend were semi grinding but just like going down to the floor like holding hands and dancing. a guy walked by and was like %26quot;DAMN DO THAT AGAIN!!!!%26quot; do you think this is bad? i mean all of us had a good time in our little line and seriosuly it was innocent dancing. a little flirty but innocent. what do ya think?

for girls your age, its a little slutty to be grinding like that. guys are giving you that attention for the wrong reason. There are ways to dance and still have fun with your friends WITHOUT grinding to the floor. Trsut me, you%26#039;ll have plenty of time to do that when your muchhhh older. At this age, your giving th wrong impression and acting older than your age.

I love to dance. I would die without dance. I have also done ballet and hip hop. I found that there are dance classes that fuse the two together and I love it. so look into that.
Reply:Sometimes it depends on what studio you join. or if you are in recreation or competition, In my studio when I was in rec we had to do jazz and tap, but now that i%26#039;m in competition we have to do tap jazz lyrical and production. I know most studios wont let you just do one or the other. unless if you do a solo. I personally luv tap but thats just me. look at the studios you want to go to before you choose what to do.

Hi, i%26#039;m 25 and i%26#039;m starting contemporary dance classes this week, and i wanted to know if it%26#039;s necessary to have a background on ballet to be really good at it, because i have seen that sometimes they do turns or jumps that seems like ballet. I took classes as a little girl but just for a while...
